OUR POINT OF DIFFERENCE
We are an online choir where everyone has a place in our choir family! With our “leaders not divas” motto, community spirit and rural flavour, we have a unique sound with our young people bringing “the spirit of the bush” to the stage. Although we are an “OZY” (Aussie) choir, our online platform allows us to welcome Peace Partners from all over the world including France and New Zealand.
The unusual spelling of OZY is to reflect our “ocher” or larrikin side, honouring our Aussie larrikins that have served (and still serve) our country (and countries) today. While we take commemoration seriously, in these challenging times, our main focus is on music for social connection and mental health. We are a little bit larrikin and like to have fun just like those young Aussie larrikins who went off to the First World War who were also known for their singing!
In these changing times for ESOs (Ex-service Organisations) we also like to think that we, as an ESO, are challenging the status quo and exploring new and different ways to rethink remembrance and support our defence and veteran families and to educate our civilian youth about sacrifice and service through the arts and all through the joy of being in a choir/group and through singing!
