For the Australia Day Peace Project, the beginning of the National Peace Project 2021, Choir members were invited to sing a new version of choir classic, ‘Young and Free'.
‘Young and Free’ has featured in many Peace Projects since the very first Project on Bondi Beach in 2017, however as the lyrics of the National Anthem changed at the beginning of 2021, Creative Director OJ Rushton decided to also release a new version of this song, called ‘One and Free’.

Meeting in 2020 proved very difficult for the OZY Youth Choir, however the beauty of our online choir is that we were able to transition to being completely online without much difficulty. That being said, all members of the choir value and enjoy the face-to-face and in person practices, so when the opportunity to have a COVID-Safe camp arose we had to take it.
In partnership with the Aussies & Kiwis for ANZACs, the OZY Youth Choir Honouring Defence Service live-streamed their Remembrance Service. The Online event commenced just prior to 11am, to coincide with a 2 minute silence as the Nation reflects on our history honouring our heroes.
Many joined us via Facebook or YouTube (on both OZY Youth Choir pages or the Aussies & Kiwis for ANZACs pages) to watch the Remembrance Service and stand to remember those who sacrificed so much for the peace we have today. The Virtual International Peace Project Mash-Up Video of the Peace Together, co-written by Her Excellency Linda Hurley Governor-General of Australia and OJ Rushton, will be premiered during this event.
This service was followed by the premier of the Sing To Remember Festival, which was launched on the Aussies & Kiwis for ANZACs YouTube page as a YouTube playlist from 1pm.

EACH FOR EQUAL' was the theme for 2020's International Women's Day on Sunday, March 8. Choir Director OJ Rushton with friends Nerissa Saville and Kim Honor were all guest speakers for their first THRIVE event, held at the Mittagong RSL Club.
The event was held to empower women, stress the message of 'equality for all' and to be respectful. What stood out above all was the message 'be a leader, not a diva', together we will succeed', and 'Don't go alone'.
LEADERSHIP skills and amazing talents came to the fore for our kids at our recently held January Music Camp, affectionately referred to as 'Jan Camp'.
The talents of our choir members certainly astonished both the leadership teams and parents that came along, with tears of happiness shed along the way, too!
